Markel Appoints Equine Underwriter

Markel International, London, September 21, 2017 --- Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Oliver Atkin as underwriter in its equine team.

Oliver joins from MS Amlin where he has been a bloodstock and livestock underwriter for the last two years. Previously he had five years’ experience in political risk and terrorism underwriting at Ascot.

Oliver will report to Juliet Redfern, managing director, equine and livestock.

Oliver’s appointment follows the expansion of the equine and livestock team, with the recruitment of Lynette Brown, livestock underwriter and equine underwriting assistant Emilie Larson, as well as the successful launch of the Markel livestock consortium.

Juliet Redfern commented: “We are thrilled to have Oliver on board. He is well known in this specialist market, is a driven and ambitious individual and has a broad responsibility to grow our equine business.”
