Markel International, Singapore, April 18, 2017 --- Markel International Singapore, the specialist insurer, has appointed Colin Fordham as a senior marine liability underwriter based in Singapore.
Colin joins from the Munich Re syndicate on the Lloyd’s Asia Platform, where he held the same position, and brings with him more than 20 years of marine insurance experience in underwriting, claims and broking. Prior to that, he was the general manager for Seasia P&I Services where he supervised a team of claims handlers and master mariners, along with a correspondent network in more than 20 countries.
Reporting directly to Matthew Cannock, principal officer & managing director of Markel International Singapore, Colin will focus on boosting Markel’s marine liability business in Asia further.
Commenting on the appointment, Matthew said: “We are delighted with Colin’s appointment. He will make a valuable addition to the marine underwriting team here in Asia. With Colin’s wealth of experience and expertise, we can definitely look towards growing Markel’s marine liability book of business in the region. The timing of this appointment could not be better following so closely to our acquisition of the Galleon Underwriting Agency last year and this means that we will be able to offer their innovative products to our partners across Asia Pacific.”
Colin is also a senior committee member of several associations in Singapore – Singapore Shipping Association (Insurance), Workplace Safety and Health Council (Insurance Workgroup), Singapore Shipping Association (Training & Development) and Workplace Safety and Health Council (Engagement & Outreach) – just to name a few.
