Markel makes new contract frustration and political risk insurance appointment

Markel International, London, January 7, 2016 --- Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Nicola Marriage as senior underwriter within its trade credit division. Nicola’s focus will be on further development and expansion of the division’s product portfolio focusing on contract frustration, structured trade credit and political risk offerings. Her appointment means that the team will have a physical presence in Lloyd’s with the division utilising both Lloyd’s and company underwriting platforms.

Nicola joins from Novae, where she worked for over eight years as class underwriter writing a broad portfolio of credit and political risks. Previously, Nicola gained extensive underwriting experience at CIFS and Coface, having started her career as a graduate trainee at Euler Trade Indemnity.

Ewa Rose, managing director of trade credit, said: “Nicola is well respected in the political risk and trade credit market and has developed a strong reputation as a deal maker and problem solver. We are looking forward to her being part of the team.”

“The development of our contract frustration and political risk business is a natural extension of our offering and gives us a broad product range, which we are looking to expand in the coming months. It will also increase our contact with a broader range of brokers across the market.”
