Markel Appoints Head of Renewable Energy

Markel International, London and Singapore, July 13, 2020 -- Markel International, the specialist insurer, has announced that, effective from today, it has appointed Thomas Baker (Tom) as senior underwriter and head of renewable energy. Based in Singapore, Tom is Markel’s first ever Asia-based global head as well as its first renewable energy underwriter in the region.

Reporting to Rohan Davies, divisional managing director of energy, Tom will lead an international team to develop Markel’s renewable energy portfolio.

Tom brings with him over 15 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and joins Markel from Aon Singapore, where he was director of construction, power and infrastructure. Prior to that, he held several positions at GCube, a renewable energy MGA, where he wrote onshore and offshore renewable energy globally.

Commenting on the new appointment, Rohan said, “Tom’s solid track record and wealth of international experience in renewable energy are invaluable as we continue our ambitious plans for growth in this important sector.”
